There’s a new fairy in Bon Temps and she’s played by none other than Kate Middleton. Ok, not the real Kate Middleton, but Camilla Luddington who portrayed the princess-to-be in the Lifetime movie William & Kate.
Now, Luddington is helping Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) discover more about her fairy past, when True Blood returns to HBO on June 10. Wetpaint Entertainment recently caught up with the English actress and got the scoop on the new season.
Tell me what’s new on True Blood!
What isn’t new? This season is going to be incredible. I play a fairy called Claudette. Sookie’s fairy godmother was called Claudine and she got killed off and I’m her sister.
So I am helping Sookie discover more about her past that she didn’t know and uncover what it means to be a fairy and have powers and all that kind of good stuff that she may need in the future.
How did you get this great role?
I auditioned with everybody else. I’m British on the show and I’m from England so having that accent helped to turn on and off.
I can’t hear an accent.
I’ve been here for six years and I’ve lost it but for that, I can turn it back easy. So I went in with lots of beautiful British girls and Alan Ball was in the room and he was great. I got the call within maybe two hours of leaving the audition that I got it. And I’m such a fan of the show that I was just so excited, of course.
And you’re filming it now?
I’m in the middle of filming it. It’s not finished.
What’s the atmosphere like on the show?
Everyone is beautiful and sexy and I think that there’s a lot of secrecy on the show, actually. I think there’s some storylines that I don’t know about and other people don’t know about. So, a lot of times, we’re like, “What’s going on with you? Oh, my gosh! Is this true?”
They keep a lot from us. But it’s exciting, it’s great. The sets are beautiful this season!
So do you have a big arc — can you say?
It’s a big arc but um, I have not got the finale script yet so I don’t even know what happens to me in the end, so we’ll see.
You could die!
You could always die. It’s True Blood! There are vampires walking around. Yeah. You don’t know! We’ll see.
So you were a fan of the show before you tried out?
I was a massive fan of the show. I geeked out completely when I got it and every second on set, I’m geeking out. I’ve watched it since day one, for years now, so I’m excited!
